In her uncomfortable shoes
She makes a journey through the city
Some office workers catch her eye
So beautiful & witty
But they flutter past
They move so fast
And she wonders where they go
And she knows she’ll never know

In her impractical suit
She strikes a pose in downtown traffic
But the only ones who notice her
Are pointing & they’re laughing
They don’t understand
She feels so grand
But the feeling starts to fade
And she finds herself afraid

Floating through the city
Floating, all alone she seems
Feeling like the city is a dream

In her impossible hat
She finds a table in the corner
She smiles at all the waiters
But they never take her order
The way they’re ignoring her now
Seems familiar somehow
But she has no place to go
And she hopes it doesn’t show

In her invisible shield
She feels protected from the crowd
So noble & invincible
She has to laugh out loud
Like she’s at home
Like she’s alone
All alone
